The mufti of the Palestinian territories, Tayseer al-Tamimi, today urged the Secretary General of the Arab League, Amro Musa, to save the city of Jerusalem "before it is too late."

The highest religious authority Palestinian Musa met today with the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, which he reported "the Israeli violations in the city (of Jerusalem) and its attempts to destroy the Al Aqsa."

Furthermore, in the interview, Al Tamimi criticized the Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC), based in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), for, he says, do little for Jerusalem, whose eastern part remained under Israeli occupation since the Arab-Israeli war of 1967.

"The measures taken by the OIC are not suited to the challenges facing the city," Al Tamimi. The Islamic efforts have

been exerted to save the city are weak. "

Yesterday, Al Tamimi said in a press conference in Cairo that it was canceling the fatwa (religious edict) forbidding Muslims visit the holy city of Jerusalem while it remained under Israeli occupation.

Israel wants Jerusalem as the united and eternal capital of their state, while Palestinians and the Arabs want to be the capital of a future Palestinian state.
