The world before the tragedy in Gaza
The terrible war in progress in the Gaza Strip is set to complete its third week, and still do not see a way out of the conflict.
The destruction is immeasurable, the Palestinian victims are being thousands of users, even if estimates are inevitably imprecise due to the complete isolation of Gaza is.
But though the conflict has not yet concluded, its impact in the long term, in the Middle East region and the world, is not recognized now.
Israel appears only in the Middle East. The terrible war in Gaza has caused a crisis in relations between the Jewish state and many countries that were closest in the region, starting from Turkey. The dream of those aspiring to see a Jewish state accepted by
its neighbors and full integration in the region seems to fade into an indefinite future.
The tensions between Arab countries "moderate" countries and "extremists" again seems destined to grow in a climate of mutual accusations which the victim appears to be the main issue of the Palestinian people hostage in a political clash in the regional reality is focused elsewhere.
The moderate Arab regimes are heavily engaged in a new and bitter battle on the home front, which sees them as opposed to the popular masses and the Islamist movements that seem much more faithfully interpret their aspirations.
Hamas will probably not be released completely destroyed by the conflict, but will have paid very high price for his renewed and widespread popularity among the Arab masses.
Meanwhile, a new deep furrow was dug between the Arab-Islamic world and the West: Thanks to the repeated interventions of the Bush administration in support of the Israeli military, the U.S. has only done more to sink below their reputation in the Middle East. Europe, for its part, once again appeared divided and ineffectual, incapable of showing their own political role in the region.
As one commentator has written, this conflict by leaving all losers. As the war in Iraq has amply demonstrated, the frighteningly destructive nature of modern warfare is inevitably and inherently incapable of being the bearer of peace.
